Spain's control document goes electronic on 5 October

Ley 9/2025 requires the DeCA to be issued and carried electronically for national road freight. Paper is no longer valid from that date, and there is no exemption based on fleet size.

Questions we get asked

What do I get?

A place to create, sign, store and find your transport documents. You build the document from the trip, Meight generates a signed PDF with a QR code on it, the driver carries it, the inspector scans it. You don't need the rest of the platform.

What happens at a roadside inspection?

The inspector scans the QR on the document and the PDF downloads over HTTPS. No login, no app, no account on their side. A short numeric code works as a backup.

What if the driver has no signal, or no smartphone?

The app caches the document and its QR offline, so both display with no connectivity. Drivers without the app carry a printed copy — the QR is on the PDF.

How does the other party sign?

Four ways: they scan the driver's QR, the driver scans their personal QR card, they sign on glass, or the driver signs alone for unattended pickup and delivery. Every one of them produces a signature that validates as AdES against a standard eIDAS validator.

Do I already have to change how I work?

No. Your ERP or accounting system stays where it is. Simple runs fully manual, connected by API, or a mix. Named integration targets are Sage, Holded and A3 in Spain, Primavera and PHC in Portugal.

Does my existing eCMR already count?

It can. If it carries all the mandatory fields and identifies both the contractual shipper and the effective carrier, it works as the DeCA. There's a checker that tells you yes or no and what's missing.
